PURPOSE
We are looking for a qualified carpenter to cut, fabricate and install wooden and other structures according to specifications. Your job will entail working in diverse settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products. A carpenter is an individual with great hand dexterity and an eye for detail. The ideal candidate will also have a good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential. The goal is to contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting buildings and products.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: Foreman or General Manager
Supervises: NA
Liaison To: All Departments
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reading blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp requirements
- Taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed
- Cutting, shaping, and smoothing lumber and other material (e.g., fiberglass) according to measurements
- Build window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
- Lay out flooring, roofing or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible
- Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance
- Build scaffolding and other construction structures
- Willingness to always follow safety guidelines
- Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, models and verbal and written instructions
- Coordinates with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task
- Inspects and diagnoses problems to determine corrective repairs
- Assists and supports other trade groups and/or department staff in daily operations as needed or directed

NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Excellent communication skills
- Intricate knowledge of mathematics
- Ability to read technical documents and drawings
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Complete apprenticeship or at least 4 years of experience as a journey-level carpenter
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
- Good physical condition and endurance
- Have reliable transportation
UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONS
Most of the work is performed onsite, with inclement weather conditions and requires walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing up to 75 lbs. Travel on small aircraft or ferry may be required.
