Auto Detailer I – Laborer

PURPOSE

Incumbent to provide excellent customer service, cleaning vehicles according to established standards or client specifications. Conduct detail inspections, washing, buffing, and waxing exteriors, vacuuming, steaming, and deodorizing interiors. Maintain records related to fuel levels and the condition of vehicle. Incumbent should possess strong customer service skills and be familiar with the tools and agents used to clean and maintain vehicles.

Reports To: Auto Detailer III

Supervises: N/A

Liaison To: N/A

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Remove trash from interior and clean upholstery, carpet, and other surfaces using cleaning agents, applicators, and cleaning devices
  • Apply wax to auto body and wipe or buff surfaces to protect surfaces and preserve shine, using cloth or buffing machine
  • Apply protective sealant
  • Meet or exceed the standard and quality of service for the industry
  • Understand and deliver specific requirements of the customers
  • Inspect vehicles thoroughly before cleaning
  • Maintain proper function of all service tools and equipment
  • Use proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection
  • Use environmentally friendly cleaning, protective, and restorative agents to maintain and enhance appearance of vehicles
  • Perform inspections and keep complete, accurate records of the vehicle’s condition
  • Move and park vehicles
  • Manage inventory and ordering supplies
  • Respond to client inquiries, fulfilling their requests
  • Keep work area neat and clean
  • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Report any safety issues immediately to management
  • Other duties as assigned

NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Attention to detail with excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including walking, crouching, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Willingness to comply with all Tribal policies and uphold standards for service quality
  • Availability to work weekends and/or holidays
  • Team player
  • Positive attitude with high work ethic
  • Must be willing to work in a fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of cleaning/chemical products and MSDS information


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Basic automotive knowledge
  • A valid state driver’s license


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)

  • Previous detailing experience
  • Experience using a buffer and carpet extractor
