PURPOSE
The Baker will prepare baked goods as requested by the Executive Chef and assist in planning production and development of seasonal offerings. Incumbent is responsible for creating high quality pastries and baked goods with standard recipes and presentations to maintain quality standards and consistency of product. Baker will assist in proper rotation of products and maintain highest cleanliness and hygiene standards in the pastry and bakery section.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Create and prepare pastry items
• Prepare, clean, organize ingredients for use in the kitchen
• Assist in development of recipe book as required by state regulations
• Assist in planning the menu of desserts and pastries to complement savory items
• Prepare a wide variety of goods following traditional and modern recipes
• Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitized at all times
• Decorate pastries and desserts using various icings, toppings, etc. and ensure food presentation meets quality standards
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge about pastry arts and ingredients
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• One-year related experience
• Current Food Handler’s card


UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONS
The majority of work is performed in a professional kitchen setting and is generally requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs. Travel on small aircraft or ferry may be required.
