PURPOSE


The Café Manager is responsible for leading all team members in the efficient and profitable operations of Scared Grounds. In addition to recuing and hiring staff, the manager will oversees the day-to-day operations of Scared Grounds Café(s).  The Café manager will work directly with Business & Economic Development (BED) staff, vendors, and customers to provide consistent fast, efficient, and friendly service. The Café Manager will be directly involved in development and expansion of the Sacred Grounds brand. The Café Manager will help create the tone and personality of Sacred Grounds. 


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS


Reports To: BED Director 


Supervises: May supervise up to six entry/mid-level employees 


Liaison To: N/A


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Develop and execute sales and profit plans that are in-line with budgetary goals 


Maintain and use daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting tools 


Research and implement Coffee Shop and Café best practices 


Oversee all cash functions


Consistently monitor, coach and encourage team members to meet the Tribes Customer Service standards


Ensure proper staffing of Café operations


Oversee all aspects of the food and beverage operation 


Conduct performance review, training and continuing education, discipline and commendation for staff


Oversee front of house: customer service, preparation and presentation of food and beverage, operational procedures, merchandising 


Oversight of back of house operations: scheduling, ordering sales, and tills, inventory


Contribute ideas regarding operational flow


Be “on-call” with responsibility to respond to problems or fill-in when needed 


In collaboration with the communications staff, manage media functions


Cultivate a professional, friendly, efficient work environment 


Familiar with, and adherence to Alaska Food Safety and Sanitation regulations


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES 


Proactively train staff to maintain and uphold all Tribal operational policies


Establish and maintain standards for customer service, beverage preparation and presentation, in-store marketing and upkeep of the physical space


Handle customer complaint with professionalism and tact


Proactively solve problems and make decisions that benefit the facility and Tribe at large 


Work special events as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)


Two years of experience in management role, specialty coffee industry, and/or front of the house restaurant experience


Register and cash handling experience 


Point of sales (POS) experience 


Two years supervisory experience 


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)


Food Protection Manager Certificate 


Food Handlers Card 


Two or more years as a barista 


Successful completion of recognized barista training certification 


Previous management experience 


UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONS


Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Regularly required to lift/or move items up to 50 pounds.
