PURPOSE
Incumbent will greet staff, children, and parents and perform daily health screenings. Perform cleaning and sanitation duties within the childcare center.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports To: Child Care Administrator
Supervises: N/A
Liaison To: N/A

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Set up and maintain a sanitary health screening station in portable outdoor shelter space
• Conduct daily health screening on each child and staff member who enter the LEARN Center
• Ask established questions pertaining to household, travel and illness and accurately record the information
• Determine if child or staff member appear healthy to enter facility, or notify parent/staff that they exhibit signs of illness and need to leave the premises
• Maintain a system for storing and organizing data collected
• Establish a welcoming, non-evasive and friendly space as the first point of contact between families and LEARN representatives
• Sanitize frequently touched surfaces every hour (doorknobs, bathrooms, light switches, etc.)
• Sanitize and clean health screening station between each health screening
• Wash and sanitize toys and learning materials regularly
• Set up or restock cleaning and sanitizing supplies and ensure health screening station is stocked with the required consumables, including a portable hand washing station
• May assist in administrative duties associated with health screenings and sanitation
• Be aware and act in accordance with LEARN’s Mitigation Plan and the State of Alaska’s Child Care licensing and regulations

NECESSARY SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
• Good interpersonal and communication skills – pleasant attitude, friendly, speaks clearly and engaging with children and adults
• Attention to detail and quality oriented – output of work is accurate and meets or exceeds internal and external standards
• Ability to safely dress, wear and disrobe personal protective equipment such as scrubs, gloves and face masks
• Self-motivated and ability to keep track of own progress
• Well organized

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
• HS Diploma or GED
• Three years related experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
• Experience in childcare or other setting working with young children
• Experience in a medical office, health services, nursing or care giving

 

UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR RESTRICTIONS

Requires long hours of standing and moving; also requiring routine walking, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment while at work. Requires working in an outdoor, open-air shelter space in all weather conditions for portions of each shift. Possible exposure to viruses or other contagions.
