The incumbent provides support and execution of the goals and objectives related to the STEPS grant. Incumbent is responsible for organizing meetings as needed to plan, develop and implement the Boys Run after-school Program in Southeast Alaska. Incumbent will foster a partnership with AWARE to support outreach, family networking, cultural competency training, evaluation, reporting and coordination of council of elders and tradition-bearers.


Reports To: Wellness Coordinator 
Supervises: May supervise up to two full time clerical or technician level staff
Liaison To: Granting agency and other grant stakeholders 


Responsible for organizing meetings necessary for planning and developing of a suicide prevention support system 

Design and deliver suicide prevention outreach

Create and support a family network to solicit input on systems of care for suicide prevention

Provide cultural competency training for non-native partners and service providers

Coordinate a council of elders and tradition-bearers to create and provide a system to evaluate care services

Create and maintain private and public sector partnerships at the community level 

Research and secure all in-house, State, and Federal funding opportunities 

Prepare reports, including those that are required by various granting agencies

Create and maintain both paper and electronic file management systems

Knowledge of principles and theories in the field and ability to apply in situations with minimal supervision

Ability to analyze and interpret information from multiple sources including but not limited to statutes, program regulations, and financial reports

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Excellent computer skills including but not limited to the MS Office Suite programs and databases

Ability to prepare grant applications

Working knowledge of 0MB A-87 and Super Circular requirements

Ability to work independently with little supervision

Strong supervision skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)

Associates Degree in Social Work or closely related field

2 years’ experience as a Technician or Caseworker in a related field

Valid Driver’s License


The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items weighing less than 40 lbs.  Travel on small aircraft or ferry may be required.
